Syracuse Is Final Four Bound

finalfour_splash

For the sixth time, my Syracuse Orange(men) are heading to the Final Four. Syracuse has actually been remarkably consistent in it’s runs to the Final Four, going roughly once every nine years (1975, 1987, 1996, 2003, 2013, 2016) and at least once in each of the past five decades.

No matter what happens next weekend down in Atlanta, I’m still proud of the team. Now go out and bring back another championship to the Dome!!

J-E-T-S Winnipeg Jets

The NHL got it right by moving the Atlanta team to hockey’s rightful home in Canada. Winnipeg to be specific. And the Winnipeg franchise got it right by naming the team the Jets, honoring Winnipeg’s hockey history and their original team’s name before they were unceremoniously moved to Phoenix and renamed the Coyotes.

As a sports purist, I think there need to be hockey teams in key Canadian cities and I see Winnipeg as one of those venues. Beyond those important cities, Canada also has some of the most unique and colorful names of cities and towns anywhere on Earth. Imagine the possibilities for team names if the NHL moved some of its other Sun Belt teams to places like Medicine Hat (Alberta), Lucifer Mountain (Alberta), Moose Jaw (Saskatchewan), or Ebenezer (Saskatchewan).

Have A Coke And A Smile

The folks at This American Life appear to have stumbled upon the original recipe for Coca Cola. What I want to know is their motivation and resources to dig up the original 1979 article from the Atlanta Journal Constitution that they used as the basis for the story.

Who knows how legit this is. Of course, Coke is denying everything and saying its not the “go to market” formula for the iconic soft drink.
