Nice Weekend

What a nice weekend from a sports perspective. The Red Sox took two of three from the Yankees at Yankee Stadium, and have beaten them five out of six times and we’re only a month into the 2007 baseball season.

And then, during the NFL draft, the Patriots went and grabbed Randy Moss from the Raiders for a song (a 4th round draft pick). Sure picking up Moss is a risk, and it flys against the Patriots philosophy of their recent success. But for the low cost for such a premium talent, the Pats would have been fools not to give it a shot. Plus, he completely overhauled his contract, making the financial commitment very reasonable.

Yes, it was a good weekend.

A Harry Potter Summer

Harry Potter fans unite. This July will be an all Harry Potter month as both the 7th (and highly anticipated) book in the series Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be released, and the 5th movie in the series, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix will hit the theaters.

I am actually looking forward to the movie adaptation of Phoenix as so far, it was my favorite book of the series. I will be very interested to see how they adapt it to the big screen.

As for the 7th book, the rumors and innuendo abound about what is going to happen to Harry and the gang. The strong rumor I’ve heard is that Harry will be killed off, probably by Voldemort.

To keep up with the rumors and all the Harry Potter news, you should check out MuggleNet or The Leaky Cauldron and their associated podcasts.

Basement

This week, we had the basement dry walled from head to toe. That means that we got rid of the 1970′s style fake wood dark paneling and the groovy wallpaper covering the staircase. I will admit that covering over the wallpaper was not an easy decision, as that was some of the swingin’est, grooviest wallpaper I’ve ever set eyes on. However, from a purely practical perspective, it was the right thing to do. From an emotional perspective, I never would have touched the stairwell and the wallpaper would have stayed.

In addition to drywalling the basement, we are going to get new carpeting to replace the funky, dirty old carpet that is currently there.

So more pictures are to come when the basement is more complete.
